The Bridges 2e Center for Research, Professional Learning, and Talent Development is a hub for research, learning, and practical support in the field of twice exceptionality. Founded in 2006, the Center supports families, educators, schools, and professionals who want to better understand and serve 2e learners, gifted students with learning differences.

As part of Bridges Academy, a demonstration and 3-12 twice-exceptional lab school in Los Angeles, California—we translate research into real-world practice through professional development, parent education, consulting, curriculum support, and strength-based talent development and enrichment programming.

Whether you are a parent, educator, or school leader, the 2e Center is here to help you better understand, celebrate, and support the complex potential of twice exceptional learners.

Our work focuses on making research-informed resources, parent education, professional learning, consulting, events, and community support more accessible to the people who need them most. Dr. Stacey Hilborn

Director of the 2e Center for Research, Professional Learning, and Talent Development
Stacey Hilborn is the Director of the 2e Center for Research, Professional Learning, and Talent Development at Bridges Academy. Stacey develops enrichment initiatives and professional development programs that align with the unique needs of twice-exceptional (2e) students. Prior to her current role, she served as the Middle School Division Director at Bridges Academy, collaborating with faculty to design dual-differentiated instruction and create supportive learning environments for neurodiverse learners.

Mark Long

CEO & Interim Head of School
Mark Long is CEO of Bridges Education Group and Interim Head of School for Bridges Academy. He has been a member of the Bridges Graduate School Advisory Council for 3 years. Prior to relocating from Australia to the United States in late 2023, he was Director of Educational Leadership (District Superintendent) for 21 schools P-12, a high school Principal and Deputy Principal in gifted, selective schools. Mark holds a Masters of Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Education, and a Bachelor of Physical Education. He is a Fellow of the New South Wales Guild of Teachers.

Jason Connolly

Administrative Coordinator, Bridges 2e Center
Jason Connolly serves as the administrative coordinator for the Bridges 2e Center. He develops outreach initiatives, publication materials, and professional development opportunities that improve student outcomes for twice-exceptional individuals. Before this role, Jason worked as an Administrative Assistant at SUNY Adirondack and as a Writing/English Counselor for AR Academics—working with students of all ages to unlock their full creative potential.

Our Mission

We raise awareness, provide professional development, extend outreach, and design projects that enhance services for twice-exceptional students.

What We Do

  • Serve as a multi-disciplinary hub where professionals, scholars, and practitioners deepen understanding of 2e learners.

  • Develop and share tools that measure strengths, interests, and talents in twice-exceptional students.

  • Offer courses, workshops, consulting, and professional learning for educators, parents, and community partners.
