Metallurgy is the study of the chemical and physical properties of metals and their alloys. In this course, the students will learn basic theory of the mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of metals. The students will also learn about metal purification from ore, the history of the discovery of different metals and alloys, and their uses in everyday life. This course includes several hands-on experiments from metal refining, preparation of alloys with a smelting furnace, growing crystals, and etching metals.
