Have you ever thought about how the art of designing clothes is a dream come true? Everything starts with a thought, then gets sketched, drafted on flat paper (with the help of numbers and geometry), then gets cut and sewn. This cross-disciplinary class focuses on the relationship between geometry and the art of pattern design in the fashion industry. Students
will learn the importance of numbers, shapes, and symmetry while designing clothing. This class will teach students to think critically about design while getting familiar with fabrics, colors, and textures. Students will make a few garments using geometric shapes. This class will go on a guided field trip to the Los Angeles Fashion District so they can purchase their fabrics. This class requires students to bring their own materials and a list will be provided prior to the class.
