THE HERO’S JOURNEY: BUILDING A CLASSICAL LEGEND THROUGH PLAY

Students will play the parts of heroes and the companions of heroes as they spin a tale of a heroic epic similar to The Odyssey.

In this class, taught by Dungeons & Dragons author and designer Steve Townshend, students will play the parts of heroes and the companions of heroes as they spin a tale of a heroic epic similar to The Odyssey. Over the course of this fun, highly interactive class, the participants tell the story of a hero or group or heroes and their journeys and struggles to gain the favor of fickle gods.

This class is suited to students interested in the themes of classical mythology and the classic hero’s journey. With light, easy-to-learn rules, the focus of the class is on improvisation, storytelling, and creative invention. Over the course of the week, we will tell the tale of the heroes’ journeys from beginning to end.
