At this point in your education, you’ve probably read your fair share of books. Maybe you’ve adored the reading. Maybe it hasn’t been your cup of tea. Maybe you’ve decided to write your own stories altogether. Have you ever wondered how the pros turn these inspiring (or uninspiring) novels into the movies you see in theaters? In this course you will read The Princess Bride by William Goldman and Coraline by Neil Gaiman (w/audiobooks), cold read the screenplays by William Goldman and Henry Selick, watch the film adaptations, analyze the process of adapting prose to the screen and, ultimately, write a partial draft of an original screenplay based on the novel of your choice (adapting 1 – 5 chapters total).
