PORTRAIT AND SELF-PORTRAIT DRAWING TECHNIQUES

In this class we will focus on making difficult subjects easy by focusing on: facial features, hands, light source effects and shading, how to turn basic shapes to finished drawings, composition, proportions, and so much more.

RECOMMENDED GRADES: 7-12 (will consider younger with recommendation)

TECHNICAL/MATERIALS REQUIREMENTS: Pencil, paper, ballpoint or felt pen, eraser, and ruler. Markers, colored pencils, and sketchbook are encouraged but not required.

There are a few tricks and techniques that help your drawing go from good to great. In this class we will focus on making difficult subjects easy by focusing on: facial features, hands, light source effects and shading, how to turn basic shapes to finished drawings, composition, proportions, and so much more.

We will hone our drawing skills by using daily drawing challenges, loosen up by learning some stress free drawing techniques and get inspired by looking at a variety of artists who use different approaches to conveying the human form.
