The quote: “Parenting is full of decisions, nearly all of which can be agonized over. You can and should learn about the risks and benefits of your parenting choices, but in the end you have to also think about your family preferences — about what works for you. ” Be advised that while the writer is an economist and relies on data, some of the data she expresses in the article might tread on “sacred cows.” Read more.

SUGAR, SCIENCE, AND ANOTHER SACRED COW. Does sugar make kids hyper? CNN says “maybe.” While noting that studies indicate “that sugar does not affect behavior or cognitive performance in children.” the article also acknowledges that “a small percentage of children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder may be extra sensitive to sugar, and their behavior changes when they eat it.” Applying the rule from the article mentioned above: What works in your family?
