LD AND ONLINE LEARNING. Many students, including college students with LDs, are now learning online. For college students with LDs, online learning can present challenges in a variety of area, including organization, access to accommodations, and more. The Chronicle of Higher Education addresses some of these issues in an article; find it.
BRAIN AND BEHAVIOR RESEARCH FOUNDATION. This organization publishes a magazine every few months, something we’d not noticed (or not been informed of) before. The March 2020 issue focuses on “the early intervention of children living with depression or ADHD so that they could get back on track and live a productive life.” The issue also contains two articles on the biologic genetic and brain bases for mental health problems. TiLT PARENTING’S newest podcast is about school refusal. Debbie Reber talks with the director of a a clinic for school refusal. Find it. Reber also points to a free, five-day, online conference on the topic of building confident kids. Here’s the link.
ADDITUDE says one of its most popular recent articles is “Our Home Can’t Withstand All of these Emotional ADHD Explosions.” The topic might be especially relevant right now. Find the article.
DEPRESSION RESEARCH, from Science Daily: “Despite their effectiveness, only 40% of patients respond to the first antidepressant they try. A recent article strongly suggests that a particular protein, GPR56, is involved in the biology of depression and the effect of antidepressants. The research team believes that this protein could offer a novel target for new antidepressant drugs.” Find the study write-up.
