NAGC PRESS RELEASE
The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) has announced the 2019 NAGC Gifted Coordinator Award winners:
•Dennis D. Jutras, Coordinator of Gifted and Advanced Learning, Baltimore City Public Schools
•Geoffrey Moon, Gifted Education Program Lead, Santa Fe Public Schools
•Bonnie O’Regan, Advanced Learning Program Facilitator, Greenwich Public Schools
Jutras, Moon, and O’Regan will be recognized at the NAGC 66th Annual Convention in Albuquerque, NM, November 7-10, 2019.
The Gifted Coordinator Award is presented annually to an administrator who has made significant contributions to gifted children in their school district. This includes developing gifted programs, using research based identification protocols, providing ongoing professional development on the needs of gifted children, and advocating for those children in the district and wider community.
Jutras created the Baltimore City, MD, gifted education plan and expanded the number of Gifted and Advanced Learning sites.
Moon, working with school faculty, developed a continuum of aligned program options for gifted students in Santa Fe.
O’Regan leads the Greenwich, CT, Advanced Learning Program, considered an exemplary program across the nation. She also currently is enrolled in the Bridges Graduate School of Cognitive Diversity in Education program.
“The NAGC awards program shines a light on those who are making a difference,” said Sally Krisel, NAGC Board president. “These administrators are leaders who are changing practices and making a difference for all gifted and talented children in their districts.”
