2e TIPPING POINT? Psychologist Devon MacEachron’s most recent blog posting contends that the 2e movement might be at the point “where a minority belief starts to become the majority opinion.” She traces some of the antecedents of the “2e movement” over the past decades and concludes, “It’s time for society as a whole to accept the idea that the kind of neurodiversity twice-exceptional individuals possess is real and beautiful and deserving of respect and acceptance.” Read the posting.

ARTS, STEM, 2e.  Don Ambrose, professor of education at Rider University and editor of the Roeper Review, is featured in a news release from Rider. One of his interests is injecting the arts into STEM, a move he contends can especially help 2e students — who he terms “dual exceptional.” He implies that 2e students are strong in visual-spatial areas, and so, in his words, “if you inject the arts into this kind of learning, suddenly that dual-exceptional student who is really powerful in visual thinking is going to take off and fly, and discover her or his talents, whereas that never would have happened if we had stayed with the sterile certainty of easily measured performance in superficial mathematics.” Read more.
