2e AT WORK. At the recent symposium held by the Bridges Education Group in Studio City, California, one presentation was by four graduates of Bridges Academy from as long ago as 2008. The topic: 2e life in the workplace. Tom Ropolewski, producer of several documentaries on twice exceptionality, has posted a 26-minute video of the panel discussion online. View the video.
2e AT A TRANSITION POINT. Jen the Blogger relates how the best-laid plans don’t always lead where you might think, in her case as those plans concern getting a previously home-schooled young person into the college environment. What could intervene? Find out.
DAVIDSON FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIPS. The Davidson Institute offers high-achieving young people the opportunity to be named a 2020 Davidson Fellow, an honor accompanied by a $50,000, $25,000 or $10,000 scholarship. Applicants must submit an original piece of work that is recognized as significant by experts in the field and that has the potential to make a positive contribution to society. The scholarship may be used at any accredited college or university. The 2020 application opens November 20 and the deadline to apply is February 12, 2020. Find out more.

CAG. The California Association for the Gifted has released a “schedule at-a-glance” for its February annual conference. Find it.
EDUCATOR RESOURCE. Education Week notes that Amazon will soon allow educators to sell materials such as lesson plans. Seems to us that this could benefit 2e education as experienced teaches of the twice exceptional make their secrets available. Teachers will earn a 70 percent royalty on their sales. Find out more.
RESEARCH, SCIENCE, MEDICINE
— Talk therapy or drugs? NewsWise reports on research indicating that talk therapy and drugs have the same value for people with depression. Find the study write-up.
— Time-outs: good or bad? In a report on that question, Time Magazine notes research finding that “among families who reported using time-out as a form of discipline, kids were not at increased risk for anxiety, depression, aggression, rule-breaking behaviors, or self-control problems compared to those who came from families that eschewed time-outs.” Find the article.
— Fish oil, anxiety, depression. NewsWise reports on research concluding “Omega-3 fats have little or no effect on anxiety and depression….” Find the study write-up.
